Production Manager (m/f)

Job description

  • Be involved with the planning, coordination and control of the manufacturing processes. Make sure goods and services are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality. 

  • Oversee the production process ensuring the production schedule is met and updated. 

  • Liaise with sales department, informing them of order delivery schedules. 

  • Close working relationship with the Purchasing Manager to ensure correct stock availability to meet production schedule.

  • Be responsible for the implementation of equipment maintenance programmes. Using preventative maintenance schedules. 

  • Work with the Operations Manager to implement the companies policies and goals.

  • Review and assess employee performance in line with Company guidelines and expectations. 

  • Manage resource levels within the production team ensuring resource availability to meet the production schedules. 

  • Supervise and motivate employees. 

  • Implement and keep standards for Lean activities, updating daily / weekly targets within the production environment. Use six sigma methodology. 

  • Responsible for HSE activity within the production environment. 

  • Work with the Operations Manager on any other tasks or assignments where appropriate.

Requested profile

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an engineering, production environment. 

  • Must be educated to A-Level standard or equivalents. A degree in an engineering discipline would be advantageous. 

  • Must have experience managing a team of production workers and have the ability to empower and engage them to ensure the department runs smoothly and efficiently. 

  • Must have an understanding of Lean manufacture and Kaizen.

  • Knowledge of a CRM / ERP system would be advantageous.

  • Good competent knowledge of all Microsoft Office programmes.

  • Must have a pro-active, can-do attitude.

  • Must be able to offer a good degree of flexibility where workload permits.

  • Literate with effective communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to communicate confidently with both external and internal customers and suppliers.

  • Must be organised and skilled in time management.

  • Must be enthusiastic and self-motivated.

  • Must be able to effectively prioritise and manage workloads.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Calibration Technology

The Production Manager is primarily responsible for the day to day, smooth and efficient running of the Production departments. The Production Manager is also responsible for all HSE activity related to the production environment.
